Songstress and vocal coach Mimmie Tarukwana stirred up the music industry last year with her banging, emPawa sponsored single, “Selfish”. This month she is selflessly gracing us with a touch of love, her new project, a debut EP titled They Love Mimmie. The EP is dropping this week on the 26th of February. We can only anticipate pieces of her amazing and beautiful personality from it. I was lucky enough to steal a few moments of her time to talk about the upcoming EP. Mimmie is nothing short of amazing.

Who is Mimmie, and what is Mimmie about?
Mimmie Tarukwana is a 26-year-old born and bred in Bulawayo. My full name is actually; Mubanga Natasha Tarukwana and Mimmie is a nickname I got when I was younger. I’m all about music and that’s what I do.
What is the “They Love Mimmie” EP about?
They Love Mimmie is my Debut EP coming out on the 26th of February its an insight into what I’m about and things I’m passionate about. Things like love, women empowerment, giving hope and good vibes.
For someone who has never heard about you and is reading about you for the first time, how would you describe “They Love Mimmie” to them?
They Love Mimmie is an Intro to who Mimmie is and what she’s about.
What challenges did you face while working on this project?
Well, I faced a lot of challenges… I had problems with one of the songs stemming from the recording process to the mixing and mastering process. It was hard, but it turned out to be one of my favourites in the EP.
What kept you going?
Honestly, the team that helped me with this project, family and God. They contributed a lot to my resilience. I give up almost every other day, to be honest, but having a great support system keeps me going.
What would you say are/is the favourite and least favourite part about being a musician?
My favourite part as a musician is making music. And my least favourite is having to always worry about being safe as a female artist.
If you could turn back time, what would you do differently?
Lol, hmm… I would have believed in myself a little more. And trusted the process.
Who is behind the scenes, the team that is? ( photographers, stylist, makeup artist, producers and social managers)
Okay, so my photographer is Gideon Visuals. I trust him with all my photographs.
Stylist, well… I don’t really have one set stylist. I style myself mostly from things I’d find from the “bendovaa” but mainly dressed by local designers like Leverage and Leico designs. As for Producers, I worked with Shamex from Harare, Stot productions from Bulawayo, Larynx from Bulawayo and Da kudu from Bulawayo. Graphics for my social marketing have been done by Stot media designs. Social managers…my friends and I have been working, lol. My makeup artist for this shoot for my cover art, I used makeup by Patiey.
And who is your target audience for this EP?
Anyone that wants to feel.
